At least 24 people have died in Vietnam after Typhoon Yagi wreaked havoc.

At least 24 people were killed in landslides and floods caused by Typhoon Yagi in northern Vietnam over the weekend, according to official reports.

The storm also left 299 people injured, as announced by the government.

Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm in Asia this year, struck the country’s northeast coast on Saturday, causing widespread devastation.

The regions of Quang Ninh and Haiphong were hit particularly hard, with power and telecommunications systems collapsing.

Authorities have warned that more flooding and landslides could follow in the affected areas.

Prior to reaching Vietnam, the storm had already caused large-scale damage and claimed lives in the Philippines and China.
