The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a recall for 17,720 pounds of sausage products due to foreign matter contamination.

The recall affects DJ’s Boudain sausage products, which were distributed in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. The issue came to light after a consumer reported finding a piece of a pen inside one of the sausages, resulting in an oral injury.

Which Products Are Recalled?

The affected products carry the establishment number “EST. 13246” on their packaging. Here’s the full list of impacted retail items:

Additionally, bulk fresh and frozen DJ’s Original Boudain and DJ’s Jalapeno Boudain products sold to restaurants are also included in the recall.

What Should You Do?

Consumers should check their product labels immediately. If you have any of the recalled sausage, do not consume it. Either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
