“Russia Will Never Return to 1991 Borders”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has ruled out any return to Russia’s 1991 borders, stating firmly:
“Never, and for nothing in the world.”

Statement Made in Kazakhstan

Lavrov made the declaration Friday during a press conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Ukraine’s Demands Rejected

Lavrov dismissed Ukraine’s calls for full territorial restoration, including the return of Crimea and occupied eastern regions, calling them “impossible.”

Lavrov Cites Trump Administration’s Understanding

Lavrov added that the Trump administration understands Ukraine will ultimately have to accept territorial losses.

“This Is Understood by Trump’s Team”

“The current Trump administration has repeatedly stated that Zelensky will have to accept the territorial issue,” Lavrov said, according to Digi24.

Accuses Kyiv of Hostility Toward Occupied Regions

Lavrov claimed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sees people in the Russian-held territories as “specimens,” referencing past controversial remarks.

Moscow: Accept the “New Realities”

Lavrov urged global powers to accept what he calls the “realities on the ground” — referring to Russian control of about 20% of Ukraine’s territory.

Kyiv Stands Firm on Full Restoration

Ukrainian officials maintain that no territorial compromise is possible and all Russian-occupied land must be returned.

Global Pressure Mounts for Peace Deal

Lavrov’s comments come amid renewed international pressure to negotiate an end to the war — efforts that Russia continues to resist.

Russia Launches New Attacks in the North

Ukrainian military reports say Russian forces have intensified attacks in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, attempting to build a buffer zone near the border.

Escalation Undermines Peace Talks

These new offensives cast further doubt on any near-term diplomatic breakthrough, as both sides harden their positions.

A Message of Defiance

Lavrov’s statement sends a clear message: Russia has no intention of reversing its land grabs — regardless of pressure from Kyiv or the West.
