Recall: These Common Soups May Contain Dangerous Debris

Here’s everything you need to know.

A public health alert has been issued for several popular soup products, including those from Campbell’s, Molly’s Kitchen, Verve, and others, after the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) found contamination in the cilantro used in their recipes.

The issue? The herb may contain wood fragments—a potentially harmful foreign material.

While no injuries have been reported yet, the affected soups were distributed across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio—with the FSIS warning that the alert could expand nationwide.

All recalled products share the establishment number P-17644 (or CA-711 for Crafted Market items), which can be found on the packaging.

What Should You Do?

If you have any of these soups in your refrigerator or freezer, don’t eat them. Instead:

  • Dispose of the product safely, or
  • Return it to the place of purchase for a possible refund.

The cilantro used in these soups has been recalled due to the presence of wood fragments, which could pose a risk of choking or internal injury.

If you or someone in your household has eaten any of the affected products and is experiencing symptoms or discomfort, contact your health care provider immediately.
