Many common foods and items we eat without issues can be dangerous or even life-threatening for dogs. Here are some you should avoid.
Chocolate

Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance dogs cannot metabolize. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, seizures, and in severe cases, cardiac arrest.
Onions and Garlic

These can damage a dog’s red blood cells, potentially leading to anemia. Raw, cooked, or dried — all forms are dangerous.

Cooked Bones

Cooked bones can splinter and become lodged in the throat or digestive tract. This can cause internal bleeding and often requires emergency veterinary care.
Macadamia Nuts

Highly toxic to dogs, these nuts can cause muscle weakness, vomiting, fever, and in some cases, severe poisoning.
Raw and Green Potatoes

Potatoes contain solanine, a toxic compound — especially in raw or green potatoes. This can lead to digestive issues and neurological symptoms.
Avocado

Avocados contain persin, which can be harmful in larger quantities. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and fluid buildup around the heart.
Yeast Dough

If a dog eats raw dough, it can expand in the stomach, causing pressure and pain. Fermentation can also produce alcohol, which is highly dangerous.
Dairy Products

Many dogs are lactose intolerant and have trouble digesting dairy. This can result in diarrhea, stomach cramps, and bloating — particularly in adult dogs.
