Ukraine’s capital was rocked overnight by a large-scale missile and drone attack, as Russian forces unleashed a wave of Kalibr cruise missiles, Iskander ballistic missiles, and Iranian-made Shahed drones on April 24.
According to United24 Media, the attack killed at least two people and injured 54 others, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Among the injured is a three-year-old child, with several people still believed to be trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
Fires broke out in multiple districts as falling debris and direct hits caused widespread damage to homes, cars, and civilian infrastructure.

“Two people died in the capital. 54 people were injured. 38 of them, including 6 children, were hospitalized by medics. Others received help on the spot,” Klitschko stated in an official update.
Missiles and Drones Rained Down on the City
Ukrainian authorities reported that the Russian military launched six Iskander-M or KN-23 ballistic missiles, six 3M14 Kalibr cruise missiles, and an unknown number of Shahed drones toward Kyiv.
The bombardment began with missile strikes and was followed by continued drone attacks throughout the early morning hours.
In one district, a residential building was hit, triggering a fire and trapping residents beneath the debris.
Emergency crews, medics, and firefighters have been working around the clock to rescue survivors.
While Kyiv was the main target, it wasn’t the only one.
In eastern Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv suffered at least three cruise missile impacts. Meanwhile, Pavlohrad was hit by two Iskander missiles and three additional cruise missiles.
The Ukrainian military also tracked Russian strategic bombers—Tu-95MS and Tu-160—operating in the region overnight, with authorities warning that more missile launches were expected between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
