Audi has officially kicked off its new brand offensive in China with the unveiling of the E5 Sportback—a fully electric, mid-size SUV designed specifically for Chinese consumers.

This furthers solidifies the push from western auto makers into the chinese market – the largest of its kind.

Revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show, the E5 Sportback marks a strategic shift for Audi as it pushes deeper into the world’s largest auto market, as reported by El Economista.

The E5 Sportback headlines a six-model expansion, including five traditional Audi “L” versions adapted for China and the debut model under the new China-exclusive AUDI brand developed with local partner SAIC.

  • Audi Q5L: This updated SUV, based on the PPC platform, offers a 125mm longer wheelbase than the global model, combining strong hybrid engines with expanded cabin space.
  • Audi A6L e-tron: Following the Q6L e-tron, the A6L e-tron is another fully electric model, offering up to 770 kilometers of range thanks to a 107 kWh battery and 800-volt fast-charging architecture.
