In 2020, Alana, an Australian, found herself in a living nightmare when her nine-year-old Weimaraner, Harlow, suddenly fell ill with a mysterious condition.

Harlow stopped eating abruptly, causing her to lose a significant amount of weight rapidly, reducing her to skin and bones.

Despite consulting multiple veterinarians, none could determine the cause of Harlow’s sudden refusal to eat.

Desperate Measures and a Ray of Hope

Over the following months, Harlow's condition deteriorated further, prompting Alana to rush her beloved pet to the vet two to three times a week, fearing for her life.

Harlow began vomiting blood, suffered from severe bloating, and even experienced a gastric torsion.

Desperate and on the verge of giving up, Alana was referred to a specialized animal hospital in Sydney, where Dr. Amy Lam conducted tests not typically performed in regular veterinary clinics.

A Lifesaving Diagnosis

Just before Alana made the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize Harlow, Dr. Lam discovered that Harlow's digestive tract was severely inflamed.

Diagnosed with chronic neutrophilic enteritis, the rarest form of chronic enteropathy, Harlow was described as "the sickest dog the department had ever seen."

Despite the diagnosis, Harlow's condition worsened, and she became unable to move, prompting Alana to prepare for the worst.

However, a breakthrough came when Dr. Lam identified that Harlow was reacting to animal proteins.

Switching to hydrolyzed vegetarian food, Harlow began eating again, regaining her weight and vitality. Today, thanks to the special diet, Harlow is healthy and energetic, living her best life, much to Alana's relief and joy.
