Casper, a white greyhound, has faced a lifetime of hardship. After spending his early days as a stray on the streets, fighting to survive, he was rescued and brought to a shelter in southern England. However, even there, Casper's luck has yet to turn around, and he is still waiting for a family to adopt him.

Ate Rocks Out of Starvation

According to RSPCA Brighton, where Casper is being cared for, he was found on a beach, desperately eating rocks in an attempt to survive.

"He was starving and ate anything he could find," said an RSPCA spokesperson in an interview with Newsweek, according to Tag24.

Upon his rescue, he was rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery to remove the stones from his stomach, which could have caused him serious harm.

Thankfully, Casper made it through the surgery and began his journey to recovery, but finding a permanent home has been an uphill battle.

Returned to the Shelter

Casper did catch the eye of a potential adopter, but the adoption fell through when the resident dog did not accept him.

Heartbreakingly, Casper was returned to the shelter, a difficult experience for a dog who had already been through so much. Since then, he has spent 170 days in the shelter, where his caregivers have noticed him becoming increasingly sad.

The shelter staff does everything they can to brighten his days, taking him on outings and pairing him with other dogs for playtime, but they fear it's not enough. “He’s struggling in the kennel and can be quite down,” said the RSPCA spokesperson.

Casper’s situation has become so dire that the shelter decided to share his story on TikTok, where a video of the depressed dog has already been viewed over 1,800 times.

The hope is that this exposure will help Casper find the loving home he deserves. Until then, the resilient dog waits, hoping for the day when he can finally be part of a family.
