Every so often, we come across stories that highlight the incredible bonds formed between different species of animals.
One such tale is that of Frieda, a dachshund, and Malou, a calf, whose friendship is nothing short of a Disney movie plot.
The orphaned calf
Malou's life began with hardship. Abandoned by his mother shortly after birth, he was left to fend for himself.
Andreas Gfrerer, a farmer and trained animal caretaker, took it upon himself to raise the young calf. But he wasn't alone in this endeavor; Frieda, the dachshund, was right there to lend a paw.
The supportive Dachshund
From the get-go, Frieda took on the role of a nurturing companion.
She never left Malou's side, ensuring that the calf was never lost or in danger. In return, Malou followed Frieda everywhere, placing his complete trust in her.
A unique breed
Malou is no ordinary calf. He belongs to one of the smallest cow breeds in the world. At birth, he stood at just 40 centimeters and weighed around 10 kilograms.
Even though he will eventually outgrow Frieda, their friendship is bound to stand the test of time.
