A severely emaciated dog, now known as “Yodi,” has found a second chance after being rescued from a highway in South Carolina.

Time With Foster Family

The German Shepherd mix was malnourished, nervous, and appeared to be “skin and bones” when he was taken in by a foster family working with Victoria Animal Rescue.

His name, “Yodi,” came from his initial appearance, which reminded rescuers of a coyote due to his thin frame and multi-colored coat.

When he was first found, Yodi was in critical condition, suffering from skin issues, burns, and a trachea problem that caused him to vomit, making it difficult for him to eat.

Since then, Yodi has undergone a remarkable transformation.

A Little Coyote

His fur has grown back, and he has gained strength, shedding the nervousness he exhibited when first rescued. Now fully recovered, he’s become a playful, energetic dog.

Yodi’s story captured the attention of social media after his new owner, Riley, shared a video of him on TikTok.

In the clip, Yodi can be seen hesitating before joining other dogs in the enclosure, eventually playing and blending in as “one of their own.”

Riley humorously captioned the video, joking that “a coyote jumped over the fence” while the other dogs paid no attention, a playful nod to Yodi’s early resemblance to the wild animal.

The video has since gone viral, with over 3.8 million views and 560,000 likes, as viewers cheered for Yodi’s recovery.
