In a heartwarming turn of events, a 61-year-old man from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, experienced a rollercoaster of emotions after his dog Ayla miraculously survived a fall on the Swiss mountain Säntis.

Slipped and Fell Down Cliff

According to Tag24 the incident unfolded in late June while the man and his beloved canine were hiking on the 2500-meter peak in eastern Switzerland.

The Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden police revealed that Ayla slipped and fell down a rocky cliff while playing on a snow-covered meadow, leaving her owner devastated. Peering through his binoculars, he could only see Ayla motionless far below. Despite calling out and whistling, there was no response from his faithful companion.

Believing Ayla had not survived the fall, the distraught owner descended the mountain. However, several days later, local police received a report about a stray dog in the area. Initially, they assumed the dog was alone due to a hiker's accident. Consequently, a search for both the dog and the owner was launched.

Dead Dog Returns!

Upon verifying the dog's microchip number, authorities discovered that the dog was none other than Ayla, believed to have perished. Remarkably, the man had not been involved in any accident on Säntis but was grieving at home. The search was promptly called off.

Following a visit to the veterinarian, an emotional reunion took place between Ayla and her owner. How Ayla managed to survive against all odds remains a mystery, but her return has brought immense joy to her owner after what he thought was a tragic loss.
