A surprising visitor made headlines in Germany when a moose, believed to have wandered from Poland, decided to take a swim on the beach.

Visibly Distressed

The moose's arrival drew a crowd of onlookers, eager to catch a glimpse of the unusual sight. However, the excitement quickly turned into concern as wildlife rescuer Mike Punger criticized the behavior of some spectators.

The moose appeared on Tuesday morning, alternately swimming and standing in shallow waters. Despite the spectacle, the animal was visibly distressed by the throngs of people surrounding it, according to Tag24.

Punger, who works with the Vorpommern Greifswald animal rescue team, reported that while many spectators showed respect and kept their distance, others were less considerate.

Moved Towards Polish Border

Some even broke through barriers, bringing dogs along in an attempt to capture photos and videos.

“The moose was frightened and overwhelmed,” Punger stated, highlighting that the animal's fear likely prevented it from reaching the beach.

He emphasized the need for people to respect wildlife and allow such creatures the space to roam without added stress.

As the day progressed, efforts were made to keep the crowd at bay, allowing the moose some respite.

By evening, the animal moved towards the Polish border, leaving the water around 7:20 PM and retreating into the dunes. Local police observed as it wandered through the promenade and into the nearby woods.
