A Great Western Railway (GWR) train in Britain was canceled after two squirrels boarded, and one refused to leave, Reuters reported.
The incident occurred on Saturday when the 08:54 am train from Reading, bound for Gatwick Airport, was stopped at Redhill station in Surrey.
According to GWR, staff attempted to remove the squirrels from the train upon arrival at Redhill, but one stubbornly refused to disembark.
A GWR spokesperson humorously commented, "The 08:54 Reading to Gatwick train was halted after two squirrels boarded without tickets, violating rail regulations."
Despite efforts to evict them, one squirrel remained and was eventually sent back to Reading, ending the unusual situation.
The Woodland Trust, a conservation charity, notes that the UK is home to approximately 2.7 million gray squirrels, with their numbers on the rise.
