But Ruby, a pitbull who recently went viral, has turned that stereotype on its head—she loves delivery drivers, and not because she wants to chase them. For Ruby, it’s all about the treats.
Ruby’s fascination with UPS trucks started when she encountered a delivery driver for the first time. Michelle Martinson, Ruby’s owner, recalls the moment that changed everything.
"The UPS driver asked if he could give Ruby a cookie," Michelle told Newsweek. At the time, Ruby was still nervous and anxious, unwilling to take treats from strangers.
The Rest is History
For the next six months, Ruby and the UPS driver crossed paths regularly but didn’t interact much. Then, one day, Ruby mustered up the courage to approach the driver, and the rest is history.
The pitbull received a cookie, and since that day, Ruby has become fixated on UPS trucks, expecting a snack each time one appears.
Now, whenever Ruby spots a big brown truck, she patiently waits by the curb, convinced there’s a treat waiting for her. In a TikTok video shared by Martinson, Ruby is shown waiting as a driver exits the truck.
Instead of the usual cookie, this time the delivery person offered her a slice of bacon — a gesture that delighted both Ruby and viewers. The clip quickly went viral, racking up around one million views.
For Martinson, Ruby’s new obsession is both heartwarming and exhausting. "If Ruby’s happy, I’m happy," she says, although keeping track of Ruby’s constant treat-hunting can be a bit tiring.
