A Family-Oriented Electric SUV
Skoda has released teaser images of its upcoming flagship electric SUV, designed for families and long-distance travel. As reported by HotNews, the model will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, which also underpins Skoda’s current electric vehicles. Expected to measure between 4.7 and 4.8 meters in length, the SUV will feature a high-capacity 86 kWh battery, allowing for a range exceeding 600 km on a single charge.
The new model will be Skoda’s fourth electric vehicle, joining the existing Epiq, Enyaq, and Elroq. The company also plans to launch an electric version of its popular Octavia in 2028, which may utilize Volkswagen’s upcoming SSP platform.
Competing in a Growing Market
Skoda’s new SUV is set to rival models like the Peugeot e-5008 and Kia EV9, both of which target the family-oriented electric SUV segment. With the growing demand for EVs that offer both practicality and long-range capability, Skoda aims to strengthen its position in the competitive European market.
The brand’s financial performance remains strong, with 926,000 vehicles sold last year—a 6.9% increase from the previous year. CEO Klaus Zellmer highlighted Skoda’s 8.3% profit margin, making it the most profitable mainstream Western car brand.
Expanding the EV Portfolio
With this new electric SUV, Skoda continues to expand its zero-emission vehicle lineup. As the market shifts toward larger electric models, the Czech automaker is positioning itself to meet the needs of families seeking both space and efficiency in an all-electric package.
