The auto industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies shaping the way vehicles are produced and powered.

Electric vehicles have gained significant traction, pushing manufacturers to adapt and invest in new facilities worldwide.

Countries that offer strong infrastructure and a skilled workforce have become prime locations for expansion.

Poland has secured another major investment in the electric vehicle sector. South Korea’s Posco International has announced plans to build a new factory in Brzeg, a town in the Opole Voivodeship.

Supplying Hyundai

The plant will produce motor cores for electric vehicles, supplying key customers such as Hyundai Motor Group.

The facility, covering 21,000 square meters, will be situated in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone. Production is expected to begin in the second half of 2025, according to Moto.

The investment is valued at approximately $46 million and will be built on a 10-hectare site. Posco intends to install eight production presses capable of manufacturing over 1.2 million motor core sets per year by 2030.

This expansion aligns with the company’s broader strategy to increase its presence in the electric vehicle market.

Brzeg was selected due to Poland’s position in the electric vehicle supply chain. As one of the leading battery producers in Europe, Poland provides strong infrastructure and logistical advantages.

This location will allow Posco to efficiently supply Hyundai and other automakers across the continent.

The company has set ambitious goals, aiming to produce 4.3 million motor cores annually by 2025, with plans to reach seven million by 2030. The Brzeg facility will play a significant role in achieving these targets.

"It is important that we have secured a production base in Europe, a leader in green automotive technology, following our expansions in Asia and North America," said Na Jeong Su, CEO of Posco International Poland.
