Tesla CEO Elon Musk has little regard for gasoline car owners, comparing their vehicles to riding horses or using flip phones.
Musk is a strong advocate for electric and autonomous vehicles. As reported by Boosted, he believes gasoline-powered cars with manual steering will soon be obsolete.
His remarks follow a new survey by the Global EV Drivers Alliance, which found that only 1% of electric car owners in 18 countries would switch back to petrol or diesel cars.
“99 percent of all cars will be electric and autonomous in the future. Manually driven gas cars will be like riding a horse or using a flip phone. It still happens, but it's rare,” Musk wrote on X.
Tesla’s Vision for the Future
Tesla’s new self-driving electric car, Cybercab, is currently being showcased in Sweden and Norway.
While many industry observers believe it may take at least five years for self-driving cars to become mainstream, Musk remains confident that the technology represents the future of transportation.
The situation in the Nordic countries appears more complex.
According to figures from Vroom, 56% of owners of used electric cars are switching back to petrol or diesel vehicles. However, 16% of them are opting for plug-in hybrids instead.
