A Finnish car dealer accidentally reduced the price of several brand-new electric cars by $14,500 (£11,800). Now customers are battling to get their cars at the advertised price.

A technical glitch on the website of Auto-Bassadone, one of Finland’s largest car dealerships, caused electric cars to be sold at a massive discount.

The error allowed customers to order new Peugeot electric cars with discounts of up to $15,000 (£12,200).

By the time the issue was fixed, news of the discounts had already spread online. Several customers had successfully placed orders for the discounted vehicles.

Customers Fight to Keep Discounted Prices

In a Facebook group for electric car enthusiasts, many shared stories of how they managed to order vehicles at the reduced price.

“I don’t know if the car will be delivered, but I’m going to fight for it. I placed the order at the price listed online. The order went through, and I’ve received confirmation,” one buyer told the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.

Auto-Bassadone has since reached out to customers who placed orders and is working to find a solution. It is still unclear whether the customers will be allowed to keep their cars at the discounted price.

This isn’t the first time the Finnish Peugeot importer has faced issues with orders.

In March 2022, a similar situation occurred when demand for an electric car promotion exceeded supply, leading to years of negotiations with customers.
