In August, a faulty electric vehicle at Rivian's plant in Normal, Illinois, sparked a major fire that damaged 50 other electric cars.

The Drive reported that a Rivian car with a known battery issue was parked incorrectly alongside other vehicles waiting for delivery.

This faulty car should have been kept in a secure area meant for defective vehicles. Instead, it was left in the general parking lot, where it caught fire and spread to nearby cars.

It's not clear if all 50 cars were completely destroyed, but many were seriously damaged.

Rivian confirmed that no one was hurt, and the production facility itself wasn’t impacted.

Rivian’s Production Struggles

This fire adds to the challenges Rivian has been facing.

Even though the company is known for its innovative electric vehicles, some customers have received cars missing parts or with incorrect fittings straight from the factory.

On top of that, Rivian is dealing with financial problems, losing money on each car it makes.

Rivian isn't alone in these struggles, though. Ford, another big player in the electric vehicle market, has also admitted to high costs, with reports showing the company loses a lot on each electric vehicle it produces.
