Former Top Gear presenter and motoring icon Jeremy Clarkson has made it clear that his enthusiasm for new cars has dwindled over the years.
Speaking at a Q&A session following the private screening of the final episode of The Grand Tour, Clarkson was asked if he still holds the same passion for cars after decades as a leading automotive journalist and TV host.
"After 35 years do I still love cars? No. Honestly, no. They're all **** now," Clarkson bluntly responded to the crowd, adding that he finds it hard to distinguish one car from another these days.
"Eighty, ninety percent of them? I couldn't even identify them. I don’t know what they are, and I don't care."
Clarkson’s biggest gripe seems to be with the shift towards hybrid and electric vehicles, which he finds uninspiring.
"Anyway, we’ve got a new hybrid drive system!" he mockingly remarked, as reported by Drive.
"I just couldn't give a ****."
Despite his disappointment in the modern car market, Clarkson expressed admiration for older cars, explaining that they deliver a better driving experience compared to the bulkier, more technology-heavy models of today.
End of an Era for The Grand Tour
After 22 years together, Clarkson and his co-hosts, Richard Hammond and James May, have completed their run with The Grand Tour.
The trio, famous for their dynamic chemistry and humor, remain beloved figures in the world of motoring television.
However, reports suggest that Amazon is considering new hosts to carry on the show in the future.
