Kia has established itself as a major player in the global automotive industry, known for blending affordability with innovation.

From stylish sedans to cutting-edge electric vehicles, the company has built a reputation for producing reliable cars.

However, even the best manufacturers face occasional challenges, and when issues arise, how they handle them often defines their standing with consumers.

A Potential Safety Hazard

The latest challenge for Kia comes in the form of a recall affecting 22,883 EV9 models sold in the U.S, according to Boosted.

The issue stems from a manufacturing error at the company’s factory in Gwangmyeong, South Korea.

An employee reportedly failed to secure nuts on the second- and third-row seats, creating a potential safety risk.

The problem was first identified when a car owner reported missing nuts on the third-row seats.

Kia conducted an internal inspection of 990 vehicles and discovered similar defects in three.

The affected models were produced between September 25, 2023, and October 15, 2024.

Loose or unsecured seats can become a serious danger during a collision, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

To address the problem, Kia has initiated a recall, offering free inspections and repairs through its network of dealerships.

A spokesperson for Kia North America apologized for the mistake and acknowledged the inconvenience caused to affected customers.

The company stressed its commitment to safety and outlined steps to improve its quality control processes to prevent such errors in the future.

Kia emphasized that no accidents or injuries have been linked to the defect, and the recall is a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety.

Owners of affected EV9 models are encouraged to contact their local Kia dealership to arrange a free inspection. By acting decisively, Kia aims to reinforce its reputation as a company that prioritizes the safety of its drivers.
