Lamborghini is stirring up excitement with the debut of its new model, the Temerario, which features a 4-liter V8 engine.
This marks a shift from the 5.2-liter V10 that powered its predecessor, the Huracan.
But the brand is standing firm on its decision, insisting that the new V8 is a superior choice.
Federico Foschini, Lamborghini's marketing manager, has been quick to defend the switch, emphasizing that it's not just about reducing cylinders. In an interview with Motor1, Foschini explained that the focus is on performance and innovation.
"The new V8 isn’t just a typical engine—it’s designed to surprise," Foschini said, pointing out that the engine revs up to an impressive 10,000 RPM, compared to the 8,250 RPM of the previous V10.
He added, "We could have easily used a standard 4-liter V8 biturbo, but that wasn't an option for us. From the very start, building a new engine from scratch was a must."
Lamborghini has put its faith in this new powertrain, which delivers a remarkable 920 horsepower, 789 of which come directly from the engine.
The Temerario’s hybrid setup pushes it close to the power of Lamborghini’s flagship Revuelto, which boasts 1,015 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine.
Despite the shift, Lamborghini is confident that the new V8 will deliver an experience that’s just as exhilarating, if not more so, than its V10 predecessor.
