Although Lamborghini has plans to launch an electric car, it will not be realized until 2028, and it will not be a traditional supercar.
Lamborghini is known for its extreme performance and design, but when it comes to an electric Lamborghini, they are keeping details under wraps.
"The Lamborghini electric car will not be like the current models. We are thinking in new directions and new types of vehicles," said Lamborghini's CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
Winkelmann emphasized that although there is currently no business logic in an electric supercar, he does not rule out that the future could change this perspective.
"It is too early to decide, and we must observe the market's development," said Winkelmann in an interview.
Even though a Lamborghini electric car may sound revolutionary, the company is cautious about fully entering the electric car market with a supercar.
Instead, Lamborghini is considering other innovative solutions, such as synthetic fuels, following in the footsteps of sister brand Porsche, which is experimenting with these technologies in Chile.
The plan for a Lamborghini electric car includes a model called Lanzador, which differs from traditional models by being taller, resembling their popular SUV Urus.
However, this new vehicle is not set to debut until 2028.
"It is a major shift for us, and we need to ensure everything is in place. It's not just about following trends, but about doing it right," emphasized Winkelmann.
