No French car show is complete without French car brands, and this year, Peugeot delivers perhaps the most futuristic concept at the entire Paris Motor Show.
A steering wheel is typically round—unless you ask Peugeot. The French automaker's latest concept is controlled with a square.
Yes, a square.
The steering wheel of the Hypersquare concept, which Peugeot is showcasing in Paris, is square.
"The Hypersquare control is a new variant of what we’ve seen with Peugeot's i-Cockpit, but how futuristic it will ultimately be remains to be seen," says Stian Gihle, communications manager for Peugeot at Bertel O. Steen in Norway, in an interview with Motor.
However, Gihle is cautious about revealing too much regarding the concept. He hints that it showcases the direction of future Peugeot models. For example, the cabin will likely be divided into 'simple modules.'
"There are probably versions of this car that reveal it will have a modular interior, much more so than previous models, but it is far too early to say anything definitive about the details of this car," Gihle added.
Incidentally, the Hypersquare has no B-pillar at all. This feature is not so concept-like, as many coupes over time have adopted this design element, also known as frameless doors.
