Royalty Auto Service is known for its short, informative videos on TikTok, guiding viewers on how to address minor car troubles. One of their most-watched clips featured a mechanic explaining a common issue: a car window that only moves up or down when the button is continuously pressed.

The solution? Surprisingly straightforward.

"Drive it all the way up, lower it, and keep pressing the button. Count to ten," the mechanic instructed. "Then, pull it up, keep pressing. Another count to ten. Now, you have both automatic up and down functions restored."

In the demonstration, the mechanic simply lowered the window completely, held the button for ten seconds, raised the window, and then pressed the button for another ten seconds. This trick, as explained, resets the electric window system, especially after a battery replacement.

Another advantage of this reset is the recalibration of the anti-pinch function. This feature uses a sensor to halt the windows from moving if an object obstructs their path. However, like many car hacks found online, the effectiveness of this trick might vary across different car models. Therefore, it's always a good idea to consult the vehicle's owner manual for detailed guidance.

Yet, if this method doesn't reset the automatic electric windows, it might indicate a mechanical issue that requires a mechanic's attention.

The video garnered almost 150,000 likes, with many viewers expressing their gratitude for the time-saving tip. One user commented, "I had saved this and came back because I needed it. Thanks!! It worked perfectly!!" Another humorously added, "Yo, I'm at a McDonald's drive-through, and you just fixed my windows, thanks!"
