Tesla’s latest feature, Actually Smart Summon (ASS), has grabbed attention not only for its functionality but also for its eyebrow-raising name.
ASS in Action
Rolled out across all Tesla models, ASS allows owners to summon their cars using a smartphone, enabling the vehicle to drive out of a parking space and up to its owner autonomously.
Many Tesla fans are convinced CEO Elon Musk named it with a wink, adding a playful twist to an already popular feature, according to Boosted.
Tesla recently demonstrated ASS in action in a YouTube video, showing a Tesla in a parking lot navigating its way to its owner without anyone in the driver’s seat.
Tesla clarifies that ASS is intended only for private areas like parking lots and driveways where the environment is predictable, urging users not to activate it on public roads.
Tesla notes, “Actually Smart Summon makes it easier to load up or stay dry in the rain,” underscoring the feature’s convenience.
Move Without Driver
The video has sparked enthusiastic responses, with fans sharing their own ASS experiences. One user explained that ASS is perfect for their narrow garage, letting the car pull out while folding in its mirrors.
Another commented on the surreal feeling of watching their Tesla move toward them without a driver, with the empty white seats underscoring the car’s autonomy.
The name has also sparked laughs among fans, with one writing: “Elon sure knew what he was doing when he called it ASS.”
Another even proposed a future feature called the “Tesla Intelligent Tracking System (TITS),”.
