Wiper blades are often considered a pricey consumable part, but a recent test suggests that it’s not necessary to spend a lot for clear visibility through your windshield.
A new test, commissioned by Swedish company Testfakta and conducted by Dekra, reveals that budget-friendly wiper blades can be a smart investment.
According to Dekra's press release, a low-cost wiper blade from Biltema ranked third in the test, outperforming several more expensive, well-known brands.
"Hella and Continental wiper blades were quite disappointing, particularly given their reputation as mid-range brands," said Dekra Automobil's test manager, Yanick Fuhrmann.
However, the test results do not imply that premium brands have completely fallen short. Bosch took the top spot with a score of 9.5 out of 10, followed closely by SWF, which scored 9.4.
The biggest surprise came from Biltema's wiper blades, which earned an impressive 8.7 out of 10. What’s notable is that Biltema's blades were the least expensive in the test.
In comparison, the priciest set from Valeo placed fifth, with Biltema outperforming it in both durability and overall performance.
The one drawback preventing Biltema’s wiper blades from taking the top spot was their assembly process. The test notes that compared to the higher-ranked blades, Biltema’s product is "a bit more complicated to assemble."
