The Gumball 3000 is one of the most famous and extravagant car rallies in the world, offering participants the chance to race across multiple countries, soak in stunning landscapes, and rub shoulders with celebrities.

However, this experience doesn’t come cheap.

Since its first run in 1999, the rally has grown from a small gathering of car enthusiasts into an international event—complete with its own hefty price tag.

Founded by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, the Gumball 3000 was inspired by films like The Cannonball Run and The Gumball Rally, which followed fictional cross-country car races. Cooper took the concept and brought it to life, with the original route covering 4,830 kilometers from London to Rimini, Italy.

Over the years, the Gumball 3000 has evolved far beyond its humble beginnings, growing into a worldwide spectacle.

The rally’s celebrity factor has helped elevate its status.

Big names like Lewis Hamilton, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, and Johnny Knoxville have all participated at some point, drawing even more attention to the event. It’s no longer just about the cars but also the star power that comes with it.

The rally has taken participants through Europe, the U.S., and even Asia, hitting cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Paris along the way.

But what does it actually cost to take part in the Gumball 3000?

According to YouTuber Mark McCann, who joined the race last year, the price for each of the 100 participants is eye-watering.

The base entry fee starts at a whopping €71,000 (around $79,256). This fee includes participation in the rally, but there’s more if you want added perks.

Participants can choose from additional packages, including insurance for their cars, which can add to the overall cost. The most expensive insurance option, for example, runs up to €9,500 for just six days of driving. For those willing to spend even more, there are luxury options that can push the price tag higher.

The Gumball 3000 has become more than just a race.

Over the years, it has turned into a lifestyle event that blends car culture with music, fashion, and entertainment.
