The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police have dismantled an international drug syndicate involved in the production and distribution of hard drugs in both Ukraine and abroad, reports Ukrinform.
In a special operation, authorities detained the leaders of the group and exposed 17 members across seven regions of the country.
Two drug laboratories were also shut down, which had been producing over 100 kg of drugs per month, including dangerous psychotropics like PVP and mephedrone.
The syndicate not only sold its drugs in Ukraine but also exported them to Europe and the South Caucasus.
In addition, they organized the supply of LSD, cocaine, MDMA, cannabis, and other substances to Ukraine, distributing them through popular Telegram channels, with one becoming one of the top five drug-selling platforms in the country.
The operation revealed that the syndicate was led by a former resident of Odesa, who had recruited numerous individuals in Ukraine and abroad to join the illegal network.
During searches, authorities seized nearly 40 kg of narcotics and psychotropics, along with 1,000 liters of precursors, hashish oil, and marijuana extract.
The total value of the seized substances is estimated at UAH 20 million on the black market.
Other evidence, including packaging equipment, mobile phones, and computers, was also found.
Suspects charged with several crimes
The suspects face serious charges, including organizing a criminal community, drug trafficking, and illegal production. If convicted, they could face up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
Additionally, the syndicate used international shipments disguised as children's toys and food products to smuggle drugs into Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing, with precautionary measures already taken for the suspects, and two individuals are still being sought.
