In Columbus, Ohio, there's no question whether six-month-old Easton is a cat person or a dog person.

The answer became clear when he met the newest temporary member of his household, a dapple dachshund named Sherman.

The First Meeting

Kirsten and Elijah McKinney agreed to look after Sherman for a week while their friends were away.

The couple eagerly anticipated how their son Easton, who had previously shown little interest in their family cat, would react to the energetic pup.

Fortunately, Kirsten captured the precious first meeting on camera, and the results couldn’t have been cuter. In the TikTok video, Sherman is seen excitedly wagging his tail as he enters Easton’s play area. The moment the playful pup approaches, Easton bursts into uncontrollable giggles, his joy evident as he laughs and even topples over from excitement.

The Perfect Therapy

The McKinneys shared that the heartwarming interaction lasted for a full thirty minutes. Kirsten described it as the "perfect therapy," highlighting how much Easton enjoyed the dog's company.

She told Newsweek that while Easton only ever smiled slightly at their cat, his reaction to Sherman was on "another level." She noted, "He just loves dogs, and something about them is very funny to him."

This delightful week with Sherman was especially meaningful for the McKinney family. Kirsten revealed that Easton is her "rainbow baby," bringing light and happiness into their lives after a devastating miscarriage.

The video of Easton’s joyous encounter with Sherman has since garnered millions of views on TikTok, touching hearts around the world and highlighting the special bond between a baby and a dog.

For the McKinneys, this temporary visit from Sherman turned into an enchanting experience that brought immense joy to their household.
