The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has determined the cause of death for "Friends" actor Matthew Perry.

Matthew Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner on Friday. In a press release, they stated that drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine - typically used to treat opioid dependence - also contributed to his death. The department considers the death to be accidental.

Matthew Perry was found unconscious in his pool on October 28th around 4:00 PM and was declared dead at the scene.

Matthew Perry became widely known as Chandler Bing in the iconic TV series "Friends," which aired from 1994 to 2004.

The initial autopsy conducted in early November revealed that he was not under the influence of fentanyl or methamphetamine, leading to further toxicological tests.

Before his death, Perry had spoken about overcoming his previous struggles with substance and alcohol abuse.

'We are family'

In a joint statement to People Magazine, "Friends" co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Jennifer Aniston expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their friend and colleague in October.

"We are all completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just co-stars. We are family," they said in the statement. "There is so much to say, but right now, we need a moment to mourn and process this incomprehensible loss," they added.
