Deadpool & Wolverine is making history at the box office, shattering records in its second week of release.
After helping the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) cross the $30 billion mark during its opening weekend, the film has now claimed the title of highest domestic gross for an R-rated feature.
The previous record-holder was Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ (2004). It held this title for over 20 years with a domestic gross of $370 million.
According to Deadline, Deadpool & Wolverine has now earned $395 million domestically and $438 million internationally.
Its worldwide total is now at an impressive $824 million.
This milestone not only surpasses the combined earnings of the first two Deadpool films but also cements the film's status as a major box office success.
Deadpool's self-proclaimed title of "Marvel Jesus" seems fitting, as the character continues to lead the MCU out of what some might have seen as a slump in box office performance.
Alongside Disney and Pixar's Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine has also helped Disney become the first studio to cross $3 billion globally this year.
