Spanish actor Julián Ortega passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon. The 41-year-old actor suffered a heart attack while on a beach in the province of Cádiz, Spain.
According to local and international news reports, Ortega suddenly collapsed on the beach on Sunday, August 25.
Emergency services were quickly alerted by eyewitnesses, but despite efforts by paramedics to revive him for approximately 30 minutes, Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene.
Contrary to earlier media reports, authorities clarified that he did not drown.
Ortega was known for his performances in popular Netflix series such as Élite and The Telephone Operators.
Born and raised in Madrid, Ortega came from a prominent theatrical family. His mother, Gloria Muñoz, is a renowned Spanish actress, and his father, José Antonio Ortega, is a respected theater director.
Ortega gained widespread recognition for his roles in several Spanish productions. In Élite, he portrayed the manager of the restaurant "La Cabana" and appeared in multiple episodes of the show's first season. He was also featured in the Spanish telenovela Velvet.
The Spanish actors' union, Unión de Actores y Actrices, expressed their condolences in a statement: "We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of actor Julián Ortega."
