Taeil, a member of the popular K-pop group NCT, is leaving the band after being implicated in a sex crime case, his agency SM Entertainment announced on Wednesday.
According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, the decision follows the agency's recent discovery of serious allegations against Taeil, which led to his departure from NCT.
In a press release, SM Entertainment stated, "We recently learned that Taeil has been involved in a sex crime case. Considering the gravity of the situation, we have decided that he can no longer continue his activities with the team. After discussions with the company, Taeil has chosen to leave NCT."
Taeil is currently under police investigation regarding the allegations.
SM Entertainment did not provide additional details about the ongoing investigation.
Although Taeil has left NCT, his contract with SM Entertainment has not yet been terminated.
