It hasn’t been many years since the internet was abuzz with articles about the identical twins Leah Rose Clements and Ava Marie Clements, who are known on Instagram by the handle @clementstwins.
Ever since they were seven years old and were offered a modeling opportunity by a family friend, they’ve been hailed as “the world’s most beautiful twins.”
Initially, the modeling endeavor was just for fun. However, after just a few social media posts, they became globally recognized and amassed nearly a million followers.
Many might wonder how being globally famous for something as superficial as appearance affects children. A few years ago, their mother, Jaqi, addressed this in an Instagram post, according to Sosialnytt.
“I understand it must be hard for people to truly understand our family just from Instagram photos, but the truth is, my girls have never stopped being kids. They’re as ‘normal’ as can be. Modeling is something they enjoy, but it doesn’t define them,” she wrote.
“It certainly doesn’t rob them of their childhood. They started modeling three years ago because it was something they wanted to do, and to this day, they haven’t changed. I’ve spent three years dealing with strangers criticizing me as a mom — accusing me of robbing them of their childhood, exploiting them for money, or trying to live out my own dreams through them.”
“And I never respond to those comments because I know the truth about them and our family. It’s not worth my time to try to convince others otherwise.”
“If I told you my husband and I haven’t taken a single cent of the income in the past three years, I’m sure no one would believe it anyway. The one thing I want to say is that my husband and I prioritize raising good kids with strong morals and keeping them grounded,” she added.
Despite their global fame, the twins remain down-to-earth, according to their mother, who ensures that their childhood and moral upbringing come first.
