If you’ve recently picked up Kirkland Signature butter from Costco, it’s time to check the label.
Costco has issued a recall for nearly 80,000 pounds of butter due to an undeclared milk allergen, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), as cited by EatingWell.
The recall affects two types of Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter, which were sold in Costco stores across Texas.

Why the Recall?
While butter naturally contains dairy, some consumers may mistakenly believe it’s dairy-free.
This labeling issue could pose serious health risks for those with a dairy allergy, including potential life-threatening allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.

If your product is part of the recall and you or someone in your household has a dairy allergy, dispose of it immediately or return it to Costco for a refund.
Health Risks for Allergic Consumers
For those with dairy allergies, consuming this butter could lead to reactions as severe as anaphylaxis, with symptoms including:
Hives, nausea, vomiting
Abdominal pain, diarrhea
Tightness in the throat, cardiac arrest
