Some believe that keeping a phone near your head at night could be dangerous. Concerns about electromagnetic radiation have been around for years.

But according to experts, there is no solid evidence that sleeping near your phone causes cancer or other health problems, according to El Economista.

Alberto Nájera, a professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, explains that if phone radiation were truly harmful, we would see major health issues worldwide.

People use smartphones all day, every day, yet no direct link between phone use and serious illness has been found.

Radiation levels from phones are actually very low when the device is not in use. Most emissions happen when you’re making calls, using the internet, or sending messages.

When your phone is idle, it emits very little radiation. You can even see this by looking at your battery life.

A phone that isn’t being used drains very slowly, showing that it isn’t constantly sending signals.

Governments also regulate smartphone radiation levels to ensure safety. All phone models on the market must meet strict guidelines, which are set far below harmful limits.

How Your Phone Affects Sleep

While radiation isn’t a concern, using your phone before bed can still be bad for you. The real issue is the blue light from your screen.

This type of light affects melatonin production, the hormone that helps regulate sleep.

Too much screen time before bed can make it harder to fall asleep. Even if you’re tired, your body might not realize it’s time to rest. This can lead to difficulty sleeping or even insomnia over time.

Should You Keep Your Phone Away at Night?

You don’t have to banish your phone from the bedroom completely, but small changes can help improve your sleep.

Try putting it on silent mode or keeping it out of reach. If you use it as an alarm, consider switching to a regular clock.

Most importantly, limit screen time before bed. Avoid scrolling through social media or watching videos right before you sleep.

Your body will thank you with better rest and improved energy the next day.
