Are you considering "raw dogging" your next flight? If so, you might want to read this first.

Trending Now

A trend called “raw dogging” has been circulating on social media, particularly gaining popularity on TikTok.

But what is it?

In simple terms, "raw dogging" refers to flight passengers deliberately avoiding any entertainment or distractions — such as movies, music, or books — during the entire flight. Instead they just stare straight ahead or at the in-flight screen.

Some even take it a step further by refraining from eating or drinking during the flight.

This trend, which is especially popular among Gen Z, is raising concerns among experts.

While taking a break from digital distractions and disconnecting from everyday life can have positive effects on mental health, psychologists warn that the extreme version of this trend poses health risks.

According to a report from Fortune, experts are concerned that “raw dogging” on flights can lead to health problems.

For instance, staying in one position without moving for extended periods can increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Additionally, depriving yourself of food and fluids during a long flight, as well as lack of sleep, can lead to stress, dizziness, and increased anxiety.

Psychotherapists advise against following this trend and instead recommend getting enough exercise, staying hydrated, and keeping yourself entertained in moderation during a flight to maintain overall well-being.

With this in mind, happy travels!
