Costco shoppers in Canada should check their refrigerators after a recall was issued for Kirkland Signature Greek yogurt.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that mold had been found in the yogurt, which was sold in 24-packs at Costco locations across several provinces.

The affected yogurt is labeled with the UPC "0 96619 22215 5" and a best by date of "2024 AU 10".

It was distributed to Costco stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

While the CFIA stated that the mold contamination is "non-harmful," they urge customers not to consume the product.

Mold in food can sometimes lead to foodborne illnesses or allergic reactions, so it’s advised to avoid consuming any product that shows signs of spoilage, especially visible mold.

Consuming mold-contaminated food can lead to nausea, vomiting, or other digestive issues, particularly for those with weaker immune systems.

What You Should Do

If you have purchased this yogurt, the CFIA recommends that you dispose of it immediately or return it to your nearest Costco location for a full refund.

While no illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall, it’s better to err on the side of caution to protect your health and avoid potential food poisoning.
