Over 12,300 espresso machines sold across the United States are being recalled after reports of dangerous malfunctions that may lead to burns or lacerations, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall affects two specific models:

  • Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker, model number 90195

  • Cooks Steam Espresso Maker, model number 22395

These machines were sold at JCPenney stores nationwide and online at BestBuy.com and JCPenney.com between August 2023 and January 2025.

The recall was issued after 18 incidents were reported involving the machine’s handle unexpectedly ejecting, potentially causing hot liquid to spray.

Of those reports, eight cases resulted in injuries, including burns and cuts.

If you’ve used either of the affected machines and have been injured, the CPSC advises seeking immediate medical attention.

Consumers are urged to check their espresso machines for the printed model number on the product label, usually found on the underside or side of the unit.

If your machine matches one of the recalled models, stop using it immediately and contact Sensio, the parent company, for a full refund. You may be asked to provide photos or proof of purchase to process your refund.
