We’ve all experienced it: a glass slips through our hands or is knocked off the table, and we sigh as it hits the floor.
When glass shatters, the pieces often scatter everywhere, making it difficult to clean up completely. Even after thorough vacuuming or sweeping, tiny, dangerous fragments are often still left behind.
Fortunately, there's an easy trick to help you find even the smallest shards.
Safety First
Before you start cleaning, remember to stay safe. Don’t use your bare hands to pick up glass pieces. Always wear gloves and shoes to protect yourself from getting cut by the sharp fragments.
The Flashlight Trick
One of the best ways to find tiny glass shards is with a flashlight. Here’s how:
Turn off the lights to make the room as dark as possible.
Place the flashlight on the floor and slowly move it around to light up the room.
The glass pieces will reflect the light, making them easier to see. This works best on smooth floors but can also help on carpets.
Collecting the Splinters Safely
After spotting all the glass pieces, it’s time to pick them up safely. Here are some ways to do it:
Hand Brush or Broom: Use these to sweep up the pieces if you have them.
Cotton Wool: If you don’t have a brush, moisten some cotton wool slightly and press it gently on the shards. The pieces will stick to the cotton.
Damp Cloth or Adhesive Tape: You can also use a damp cloth or tape. Press them gently on the shards to pick them up.
Always wear gloves during this process to reduce the risk of injury.
