Costco has issued a recall on a popular snack item after reports of metal fragments being found in the product.
The recall, posted on Costco’s website, involves Chomps Original Beef Sticks sold in 12-count pouches at warehouse locations across 22 U.S. states.
The recall was initiated following two consumer complaints of metal pieces discovered in the beef sticks, raising concerns over potential foreign matter contamination.

The recalled product includes Chomps Original Beef Sticks with the following identifiers:

Individual UPC: 856584004183
12-count package UPC: 856584004763
Lot codes: 25016, 25017, 25018, 25020, 25021
The impacted items were sold at Costco stores from February 4, 2025, through March 21, 2025 in the following states:
Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
This latest recall expands upon an earlier one announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that affected a limited amount of Chomps beef sticks sold through other retailers.
What Should You Do?
If you purchased the recalled product, do not eat it.
Instead, dispose of it immediately or return it to your local Costco for a full refund.
At this time, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection to the recalled beef sticks. However, consumers who believe they may have been harmed should contact a healthcare provider.
