IKEA is taking a step towards sustainable living with the introduction of a new energy overview service, designed to help consumers monitor their electricity usage and make smarter energy choices.
The service, now available through the IKEA Home smart app, is currently in its pilot phase in the Swedish market, having launched on May 10.
This initiative allows users to track their home's energy consumption in real-time without the need for IKEA smart home products. Instead, it integrates with users' smart electricity meters to analyze usage patterns and provide personalized recommendations aimed at reducing energy costs.
To access the pilot service, users must be IKEA Family members and possess a mobile BankID.
IKEA's collaboration with Eliq, a tech company specializing in energy monitoring, facilitates the analysis of consumption data, enabling the provision of actionable insights.
These suggestions range from modifying household habits to integrating specific smart home products that enhance energy efficiency.
Camilla Thunell, IKEA Sweden's sales manager, expressed enthusiasm about the project:
"We want to contribute to making more people aware that it doesn't have to be difficult or expensive to make smart choices. Testing the energy overview in Sweden is part of this work, and I hope that many people want to start using the service."
