Russia plans to draft 133,000 men between October and January as part of its annual fall conscription, according to a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin on September 30. This was reported by the Kyiv Independent.

The conscription targets men aged 18 to 30 who are not in the military reserve and have not completed their required military service.

The draft applies across Russia, including the illegally annexed regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

Soldiers who have completed their mandatory service will be dismissed, according to the decree.

The United Kingdom’s Defense Ministry reported earlier this year that Russia may be recruiting around 30,000 people each month to support its war in Ukraine.

This latest conscription effort is part of the broader push to bolster Russia's military forces as fighting continues, particularly in the Donetsk region.

In response, Ukraine has also ramped up its mobilization efforts.

In April, Ukraine passed a law aimed at replenishing its own forces, including lowering the minimum age for compulsory service from 27 to 25.

By mid-July, over 4.6 million Ukrainian men had registered or updated their military information, preparing the nation for further mobilization as the conflict drags on.
