The 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade defeated a Russian armored assault in the Kurakhiv direction, according to a video shared by the brigade’s press service on Telegram.

In an attempt to overrun the Ukrainian positions, Russian forces deployed a significant number of armored vehicles. Many of these were fitted with makeshift "barbecue" structures, intended to protect them from skidding and FPV drones.

The enemy sent 23 armored vehicles, including four tanks and 19 amphibious vehicles, to land infantry near the Ukrainian paratroopers’ positions.

However, the 79th Brigade inflicted heavy fire damage on both the Russian vehicles and the soldiers they were transporting. Ukrainian forces managed to destroy six vehicles in total: one tank and five armored combat vehicles.

"Our paratroopers once again gave the invaders a 'warm' welcome," the brigade stated, reporting the destruction of five armored vehicles and one tank. Additionally, three anti-aircraft guns and another tank were damaged during the operation.

Faced with considerable losses at the onset of the assault, the Russian forces halted their advance. Ukrainian paratroopers had been actively targeting the enemy’s equipment using anti-tank weapons and FPV drones.

Estimates suggest that Russian forces lost 24 soldiers, with another 20 wounded.

This is not the first time the 79th Brigade has successfully repelled Russian assaults in the Kurakhiv direction. Earlier attempts by Russian troops, involving smaller infantry groups supported by tanks and soldiers on buggies, were similarly thwarted.
