In a move that bolsters Ukraine's defense capabilities, the United Kingdom has announced a substantial new air defense aid package for Ukraine.

This announcement by UK Defense Minister Grant Shapps on December 29 comes in response to Russia's massive air attack against Ukraine earlier today.

The UK will send "hundreds of air defense missiles" to Ukraine, restocking the air defense systems previously provided by London.

Ukraine's Resilience Amidst Russian Assault

Early in the morning, Russian forces targeted Ukraine with 158 attack drones and missiles, of which 114 were successfully shot down by the Ukrainian military.

The attack resulted in at least 30 fatalities and over 160 injuries across the country, with significant damage to civilian and military sites in key cities like Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia.

A Message of Unwavering Support

Defense Minister Shapps emphasized the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

"Putin is testing Ukraine’s defenses and the West’s resolve, hoping that he can clutch victory from the jaws of defeat. But he is wrong. Ukraine’s degradation of the Russian Black Sea Fleet has proven it is still in this fight to win,” he stated. The new air defense package sends a clear message of the UK's unwavering support for Ukraine.
