Ukraine's air defense forces shot down approximately 15 Shahed drones launched by Russian forces in an overnight attack on Kyiv from October 2 into the early hours of October 3, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The drone assault followed a now-familiar pattern of nighttime UAV strikes, with enemy drones entering the capital from various directions.
The air raid alert lasted for more than five-and-a-half hours, starting before midnight and continuing as new waves of drones were deployed throughout the night.
"None of the Russian drones reached their intended targets. Air defense systems successfully detected and destroyed about 15 attack drones in the airspace over and around Kyiv," Serhii Popko, head of the city's military administration, wrote in a Telegram post.
While debris from the downed drones was found in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district, the damage was minimal, and no fires or casualties were reported.
