An Australian hockey player has been arrested in Paris during the Olympic Games after allegedly purchasing cocaine.
The 28-year-old athlete was detained by police on Wednesday night following what authorities described as a "cocaine transaction," according to the Paris public prosecutor's office and Der Spiegel.
The player was reportedly found in possession of one gram of the drug.
The arrest also led to the detention of a 17-year-old seller who was found with additional quantities of drugs.
Both individuals are now in custody.
The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) confirmed that one of their hockey players has been detained but emphasized that "no charges have been brought" against him at this time.
The incident comes just days after the Australian men's hockey team was eliminated from the Olympic tournament, having lost 2-0 to Germany in the quarterfinals.
The AOC has not provided further details about the player's situation or the potential consequences he may face.
