At the recent US Democratic Party convention in Chicago, former President Barack Obama urged the party to rally behind Kamala Harris as its presidential candidate.

In an impassioned speech, Obama declared that the United States was ready for Harris as president, lending her his famous campaign slogan, “Yes, she can!”

Obama emphasized that Harris has dedicated her life to giving people the same opportunities that America had given her. He highlighted that she is a leader who will fight for all Americans and that her candidacy is a historic opportunity to strengthen democratic values and unify the country.

Tagesschau further reports that the Democratic Party convention in Chicago was not only a stage for Harris but also for other prominent supporters.

In a much-acclaimed speech, former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke of a “return of hope” to the United States and praised Kamala Harris as one of the most qualified individuals ever to run for president. Michelle Obama emphasized that Harris has the ability to unite the nation and address the challenges of the future.

Stephanie Grisham, Donald Trump's former spokeswoman, also made waves when she openly endorsed Harris. Grisham explained that after her years under Trump, she now sees Harris as the right choice for the country. She stressed that Harris respects the American people and deserves their vote. This broad support, even from unexpected quarters, underscores the importance and historic nature of the upcoming presidential election.

At the convention, Kamala Harris was officially nominated as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

The more than 4,500 delegates confirmed her candidacy in a ceremonial act accompanied by music, light effects, and enthusiastic cheers.

Harris herself was not present but participated via video from Milwaukee, where she was campaigning.

With this nomination, Harris is now at the forefront of the campaign against Republican candidate Donald Trump, and the next few weeks will be crucial in mobilizing voter support.
